Can IU students drive a Campus Bus? - Campus Bus Service currently employs 29 IU students as part-time bus operators who drive buses around their class schedules.
We are looking for friendly people - To qualify; you must be an IU student, have a good driving record, and be available for at least two semesters. Experience is not required - we train!
You CAN drive a bus - It may be big, but that's what makes it fun. The skills are quickly obtained and most find it much less difficult than they ever imagine. We provide both classroom and behind the wheel training. Driver training is one-on-one with an experienced instructor and at your own pace. All buses have power steering, comfy seats and automatic transmissions.
Flexible Schedule - The schedule is designed for students. The shifts are short and varied (late afternoons, evenings and weekends).
Great Pay & Raises - Starting pay is $12.00/hour. Even during your training, pay is $9.87/hour. In addition, there is a performance bonus program that pays $1.00 per hour worked each semester, if you qualify. A performance pay rate adjustment of $.50 per hour for each 500 hours of work is also available.

Student Jobs at Campus Bus
Bus Operator ((Bus Drivers)
Drivers operate a transit bus on fixed-route or special event route. Bus operators provide safe, reliable and friendly service in accordance with IU policies. They must obtain a Commercial Drivers License (CDL) for which Campus Bus provides the training and vehicle. Qualifications for the position: must be at least 21 years old, possess a driving record which complies with IU standards, and pass a pre-employment drug screen.
Two Paid Summer Training Classes:
There will be two paid training classes this summer. - The training program will be for approximately 8 hours a day and will last approximately 3 to 4 weeks. Upon successful completion of the program, you will have obtained your Class B Commercial Driver’s License with a Passenger and Air Brake Endorsements. By the time classes start on Monday August 31, 2009 you will have your work assignments picked out, and be ready to drive!
- Summer Training Class I: Monday May 11, 2009 through Friday June 12, 2009 ;
- Summer Training Class II: Monday July 13, 2009 through Friday August 14, 2009
